Our goal is to assist members of
Cross of Christ in responding with Christian service
to the existing and emerging needs in our congregation, the community
and in the world.
We invite anyone who is interested
in serving on the committee, a sub-committee,
or just offering suggestions to participate.

of love and caring to all of God's children.

The Social Concerns Ministry Team
meets the 4th Monday of every month at 6:45 p.m. at the Church building.

The Ways In Which We Serve
Broomfield
FISH
An ongoing ministry of contributing food and basic need items to
FISH which are then distributed to people requiring assistance in
Broomfield. A special Thanksgiving drive is held in November.

This program of FISH is a clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities

COMPA
Ministries
Cross of Christ families help with Project Glean by gathering crops
in the fields for needy Colorado families.
Sandwiches
for the Homeless
Once a month volunteers prepare and serve sandwiches, fruit and pastries
to the homeless in Denver. Donated warm clothing and blankets are
distributed in winter months.
Growing
Home
This Interfaith Family Shelter is a collaborative effort uniting
community sites and congregations to provide shelter, meals, and
case management to families experiencing homelessness. COC volunteers
support a church host site by preparing and serving meals for the
families 4 weeks during the year. Many volunteer opportunities are
available, not only with meals and overnight stays, but also with
the children in tutoring after school, helping in a community garden
or joining them on field trips.
ELCA
World Hunger
Financial donations assist children and families worldwide who are
hungry and those who have been devastated by natural disasters.
Prison Ministries
This opportunity is available to worship with inmates at the Broomfield
Detention Center and also the New
Beginnings Church located inside the Denver Womens Correctional
Facility.
Christmas Gift
Programs
MOSAIC,
a Lutheran organization which serves developmentally disabled individuals,
and the Salvation Army, recommend gifts for individuals and families
that are purchased by members of Cross of Christ.
School Supplies
Each fall donated school supplies for Lutheran
Family Services foster and refugee children help them go back
to school with the tools they need to succeed.
Crop
Walk
Each fall COC members participate in this event to raise money for
Broomfield FISH and World Hunger.
Lutheran
World Relief
Social Concerns hosts a Fair Trade Fair in the fall with crafts made
in countries around the world plus baked goods and crafts made by
our congregation. Throughout the year Fair Exchange coffee, chocolate,
and teas are available for sale in our fellowship hall. All proceeds
benefit people in developing countries through Lutheran World Relief.

Delivery
Unclaimed altar flowers are delivered to area nursing homes by church
volunteers.
